Yale University
Yale University is an internationally recognized academic institution. Its mission is to teach about, and to conduct, research in the sciences and humanities. The broad base of research at Yale is best described as a continuum from basic to applied. In the last decade, Yale has also become a catalyst in the revitalization of New Haven's economy. Yale's spending on payroll and benefits, and its purchasing of goods, translate into a direct economic impact of over $1 billion annually in Connecticut. In 2005 Yale conducted over $430M worth of R&D. The University collaborates with city, state and business leaders to forge partnerships that support the continuing revitalization of New Haven.
