With our socially responsible citizens, great emphasis is placed on sustainability, slow foods and other green initiatives. When it comes to fruits and vegetables, folks make the effort to buy local. With several large farms in the regions and farm markets in almost every town during the growing season, at-home cooks as well as top-notch chefs utilize foods found in the area to make tasty meals. Even our local colleges are involved. Yale University's Sustainable Food project works with local farmers and food manufacturers to create healthy food that supports local farmers and is sensitive to the environment.
